The Behind Story
Challenge: Ensuring the Arms would not buckle under Laptop Weight
Solution: FEA Testing with a Distributed Load
A new and improved laptop design features an adjustable height and arms from a spring-loaded design. But what proved that the design was plausible and functional? The use of finite element analysis and engineering principles simulates the distributed load of a laptop along the arms. Our resulting image on the right shows the distribution of loading on the arms and the resulting moments. The resulting FEA validated our design decisions.
